Programme - Poster Sessions

Marine & Ocean
Massive growth in global GDP brings big opportunities to the marine industry and world trade continues to rise in line with economic expansion. The volume of seaborne trade could be double within 20 years. Oil and natural gas is expected to account for 60 per cent of global demand for energy in 20 years. Advances in technology will be the keys to meet the growing demand for energy from more diverse sources. Moreover, the offshore renewable energy area such as offshore wind energy, wave energy, tidal energy, etc. is recently growing rapidly. This indicates growing challenges and opportunities to produce offshore oil and gas, and offshore renewable energy. Growth in the world economy also results in concern for environmental impact due to marine activities. Group Marine & Ocean concerns for ocean, marine technology, marine environment, green shipping, ocean/offshore technology, naval defence, geo‐technology, renewable energy, autonomous and smart ship, rules and regulations, risk, safety and reliability. The Group M&O organises the following sessions in EKC 2018 Glasgow. • M&O Session 1: Arctic Environment and Technology (Room R5, 11.00 to 12.50, Wed. 22 August) • M&O Session 2: Marine and Ocean I (Room R5, 13.30 to 15.15, Wed. 22 August) • M&O Session 3: Maritime Safety and Environment (Room R5, 16.00 to 17.40, Wed. 22 August) • M&O Session 4: Marine and Ocean II (Room R5, 11.00 to 12.50, Thu. 23 August) • M&O Session 5: Collaboration in Research, Development and Innovation (Room R5, 13.30 to 15.10, Thu. 23 August) • M&O Session 6: [KIGAM] Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (Room R5, 16.00 to 17.40, Thu. 23 August) • M&O Poster Session I (P5 to P6, Level 3 Foyer, 15.10 to 16.00, Wed. 22 August) • M&O Poster Session II (P5 to P6, Level 3 Foyer, 15.10 to 16.00, Thu. 23 August) • KIMST/EKMOA Collaboration (Venue TBC, 11.00 to 12.00, Tue. 21 August) • KRISO/EKMOA MOU Signing Ceremony (Room R7, 17.45 to 18.00, Wed. 22 August) • Dinner (Room R7, 17.30 to 18.30, Wed. 22 August) • EKMOA Annual General Meeting (Room R7, 18.30 to 20.00, Wed. 22 August) • Networking (Venue TIC, from 20.00, Wed. 22 August) The sessions aim to review current state-of-the-art technology as well as discuss on future development and technology industrialisation with scientists, engineers, and policy decision makers from Korea and Europe. The Group M&O also provides opportunities for participants to find collaboration partners working in the fields.
